Newsflash! Norwich Flyers On Telly, Again!

Channel 5’s Milkshake Show to Visit Norwich Flyers.

On Friday 12th of October Channel 5’s morning children’s program The Milkshake Show will be paying the Flyer’s a visit. Every week one of the show’s presenters is set a challenge. This time it’s going to be to learn how to ride a BMX around a race track. And with our new found experience in being T.V. stars, the only BMX club they could pick was Norwich Flyers. The shoot will be much shorter compared to last time and only requires a couple of riders.
I will be coaching the presenter, while Joey Gough shows just what can be achieved at the top end of our sport.

Many Thanks to Fox Europe and Vans for supplying clothing for the shoot.

Race Report: E.A Club Championship 07

Windstorms and Old Buses!
As well as the Jumps on the track Royston surprised us with another couple of obstacles. Firstly getting to the venue was a nightmare because of the hundreds of old school buses descending upon Duxford air field ! Bus spotters? I kid you not!!
Secondly the wind blew a gale all day making racing exciting on the first straight but slow for most of the rest of the course.
Apart from those two added obstacles everything else was spot on.
147 riders entered the event with 16 from Norwich Plus our own support team of a resting Joey Gough and the Flyers own personal trainer, Stu More.
6 and unders.
With 16 riders this class was stacked full of young talent. In only his second event Tommy Gorman rode to a very impressive 4th place, one to watch for the future without a doubt.
Male 11/12’s
Riding in his first ever race a very enthusiastic Harry Noble came home 6th out of ten riders, a great performance in his first ever event. I’m sure we will be seeing more of Harry in the future. Male 13/14’s
The flyer’s lone rider in this class is Ethan Johnstone . With a 4th in the b final Ethan is making real progress in this class, definetly warranting his move up from novice this season.
Male 15/16’s
The ever improving Alex Richardson just missed out on making the A final, eventually taking 3rd n the B final. Watch out for Alex next year, he’ll be in there challenging at the front of the class mark my words! Aaron Nott making his racing debut finished in a respectable 6th place. With the amount of time Arron Spends practising at the Norwich track he’s also one to look out for next season.
Male 17+, 30-39 cruiser & male payback.
Three classes, one name “Hilly”! obliterated all classes he entered. That’s a total of 12 individual races he won. Awesome as usual!
30+ masters.
Norwich fielded a strong squad of four riders in this class. Williams(2nd) ,Mills (3rd) and (5th)Warden all battled as hard a possible but couldn’t stop a flying Lee Alexander from taking the win.
In the B final Martin Pitchers rode valiantly to 2nd place debuting his new Dialled bike and leg!
Female 7-9 years.
Freyja Pitchers stole hearts and rode to a stylish fourth place. Our next Joey Gough? quite probably!
Female 13+
A blast from the past! Jo Stevens made her return to the sport after a twenty year break! her last race was was at the world championships at Slough in 86! Although nervous about racing again after such a long time Jo hardly let it show and came home in 6th place. By the smile on hr face afterwards I’d guess she wont leave it so long next time. Welcome back Jo!
Our national #1 and world #5 Abi Hill showed Jo what modern day BMX racing is all about with a fine 3rd place finish.
RELAY!

As always theClub champs ended with an inter club relay.
It’s just a bit of a laugh at the end of the season and NOT to be taken seriously ( yeah right!).
The Norwich team consisting of Tommy Gorman, Harry Noble,Alea Richardson, Addie Warden and Alan & Abi Hill finished in fourth place.
Braintree won it but kinda cheated! Braintree I hope you can live with yourselves LOL

Our Thanx to Phil T and the Royston crew for putting on such a great event.
