CANCELLED – ROUND 4 WINTER SERIES

Round 4 of the winter series is due to be held on Sunday 12th February.  We will be doing a track inspection and will update this posting with our findings.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel due the snow and ice. We will be arranging another date in the not to distant future, you can view any upcoming dates here BMX East

Thanks to Braintree BMX Club and Jools for a great coaching day

Just a quick thank you to Jools from Braintree BMX club for delivering a great coaching day at the track today. It was great to see some big smiles on some of our newest and slightly more nervous members faces! It’s a shame we couldn’t have gone on all day but judging by my terrible sunburn its a good job we stopped when we did.

We hope you’ll come back for another session soon Jools, and thanks again!

Round 7 – What a great day at Norwich!

Thanks to everyone who came and helped out, raced and watched at the race yesterday. We all had a great day, and I was especially proud of the TWELVE novice racers that rode really well in their first ever race.

We raised £147 in the raffle and in return gave out some great prizes thanks to Hardcore Hobbies and Dialled Bikes.

Here’s some great photos taken by Paul Sorrell, of the novice racers on the podium.

Royston Round 6 – Race Results

We had a very successful days racing at Royson today. Congratulations go to Aiden for winning the rider of the day award along with getting a 1st in one of his motos, Jake got a well deserved 1st place overall and Morgan did well getting 3rds and a 2nd. Dave came 2nd in cruisers and was looking strong. Abi kept her consistent 1st places, with Royston rider Helen hot on her heels! Jay is now at the top of the league in masters with his win today bumping him up to first place overall, and Steve bagged second place.

Norwich regional race date has changed!

The date has changed to Sunday August the 1st. This means the race no longer coincides with the Bob Field charity race at Crew, so we should get a good turn out. Please get in touch if you’d like to help out on the day, we need finish line people to mark the order the racers come in, and some race marshals to wave flags when people fall off their bikes in a race.

AGM and club development/handover meeting

As you all know Tim’s health has meant it’s been very difficult for him to continue with his duties as Club Secretary, so in the last month he has handed these duties over to Rebecca and Chris as well as anyone else who is interested in helping to rebuild and upkeep the club.

As as result of this handover we desperately need to have an AGM to vote in the new Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer and to discuss new roles such as Schools Liason Officer and Events Manager that we are very much in need of to help get the club back on it’s feet. If you feel you could fill one of these roles, please do come along on Wednesday 9th June 2010 at 6pm.

We will be having an informal trackside AGM on (we can have gate practise after!), where we will be discussing the work that needs to be done and also the grant application I am in the process of filling out to apply for the rest of the Barclays spaces for sports funding. I will go over with you what we plan to spend our money on, but because the hand in date is so soon (Friday 11th of June), it doesn’t give us much time to consider new options, unless whoever suggests them can get us a very quick quote in on time.

It would be great to see you at the meeting, and I hope you can all get more involved with the club this year.

Our club needs you!

The club has now officially changed hands and we are seeking new committee members as well as club members to help build the club up pretty much from scratch. Please do come and speak to one of us on a practise day, we’ll appreciate any input and help you can offer.

We are also calling out to all existing club members to renew their memberships as soon as possible!

We are currently in the process of applying for new grants, and anyone who knows of any potential sponsors please drop me an email and we’ll chat!
